HOT WATER HEAT PUMP
One low-cost and sustainable way of producing the domestic hot water needed for your home is to prepare it with a heat pump. There are systems available developed especially for this purpose, such as the ESTIA DHW MONO, which is designed solely for hot water preparation. Its underlying operating principle is similar to that of a standard air source heat pump. Energy is extracted from the surrounding air, converted, and used to raise water to the desired temperature.

Independence
You don't need to run your central heating all year round. With an ESTIA MONO, hot water is produced independently of the heating system.
Protection against legionella
With an ESTIA MONO, hot water can be easily stored at 60°C. Legionella is happiest at a temperature of between 25°–55°C, so you are sufficiently protected against it.
Smart combinations
The smart grid allows a photovoltaic system to be easily integrated, so domestic hot water can be produced even more cheaply.
Dehumidification of indoor spaces
Hot water heat pumps dehumidify indoor spaces. This is especially useful in basements, utility rooms, etc.
WHAT DOES AN AIR-TO-WATER HEAT PUMP CONSIST OF?
All ESTIA air-to-water heat pumps are what are known as split systems, i.e., the refrigeration cycle is split over two units: an indoor unit and an outdoor unit. The outdoor unit is used to generate and convert energy while the indoor unit transfers it to the heating circuit.
GENERATING ENERGY BY DRAWING IN OUTDOOR AIR
Fresh air to produce hot water is drawn in from the outdoors via a narrow pipe. The benefit of this setup is that while the central heating is not being used and the basement is comparatively cool in summer, the heat pump can be run even more efficiently using warm outdoor air. The warmer the drawn-in air, the less electricity is needed.
GENERATING ENERGY FROM ROOM AIR
If the room is not air-tight, the air present in the room will be sufficient to prepare hot water. Beneficial side effects include the fact that moisture is removed from the air so your laundry will therefore dry faster and the fact that the room is cooled so you can store food or even wine for longer periods. Waste heat from other appliances, such as your washing machine, refrigerator, etc., can be used here too.
