Business solutions, CAVERION Österreich GmbH
Everyone in Austria knows the Parndorf outlet village. The almost horseshoe-shaped PADO hosts multiple stores, including nine stores fitted with TOSHIBA units, across a total area of over 20,400 m². Right from the beginning, the concept not only envisaged comfortable air conditioning for the hot summer months, but the system was also intended to be able to heat the entire area monovalently.

The nine stores provide a wide variety of products from different sectors to customers – sporting goods, a stationary discounter, exclusive lingerie, opticians, pharmacy, a full-range supplier for furnishing and home accessories, and much more. It's not hard to imagine that each store has individual requirements in terms of climate, unit appearance, and control options.
"In order to be able to take all individual requirements into consideration, I decided to use 17 outdoor units which supply a total of 69 indoor units. Thanks to the careful design in line with the standard outside temperature, monovalent heating is no problem for the TOSHIBA VRF systems," states Project Manager Dominik Zach from CAVERION Österreich. The highly compact MiNi VRF systems used for the smaller stores consistently cover both requirements by providing comfortable coolness in summer and cozy heat in winter.
Seven independent RAV/light commercial systems which have proven their suitability for use over many decades in literally hundreds of thousands of critical applications were used for the technical/server rooms. The VRF systems also work extremely well when 3rd party heat exchangers are integrated – several PADO stores support air conditioning with air curtains over the entrance areas supplied with direct expansion kits from TOSHIBA.
The control options were also tailored to the stores. From an extremely simple, local control and a wired comfort remote control to TOSHIBA's Smart Manager with optional timer and energy-saving functions and set-back functions, for example.
