TOSHIBA – quality for success!
TOSHIBA is one of the world's leading companies in the field of air conditioning technology and relies on various quality management systems to ensure maximum reliability and top durability of all its air conditioners.
The two main TOSHIBA plants are located in Asia in Pathum Thani (Thailand) and Fuji (Japan). There is also an additional TOSHIBA factory in Hangzhou (China). Parts of the ESTIA air-to-water heat pump systems which are so important for the European market are produced in Legnica (Poland). It is also important to note that all employees have committed themselves to meet the highest of standards. All plants are certified to the environmental management standard ISO 14001 and the quality management standard ISO 9001.
No matter whether it is produced in Asia or Europe, no TOSHIBA unit leaves the plant without having passed extensive quality tests and being put through a test operation.
The extensive range of safeguards to ensure the highest quality start much earlier in the process, for example copper suppliers are required to carry out complete leak testing. Some air conditioning system components contain hundreds of soldered joints, with highly specialized automatic soldering machines carrying out the task alongside certified employees in the case of particularly sensitive joints. These employees have to complete at least six months of training in Japan before they start work on the line. VRF units are subject to a special leak test in a helium chamber. Lastly, even the durability of the secondary packaging is tested before shipping. These and countless other components together ensure the overall quality of a TOSHIBA air conditioning system at all times.
TOSHIBA is part of the Eurovent certification program. This means that one of the most independent and renowned organizations officially certifies that the units' overall efficiency meets the highest criteria. The products' performance data is certified for air conditioning and refrigeration technology on the basis of European and international standards. All products are tested by independent laboratories.
What does this testing involve and what do we get out of it?
A unit's performance data is obviously at the forefront – namely the nominal capacity, energy efficiency, and noise values. However, the tests carried out by the institutes go far beyond verifying the manufacturer data. For example, the quality of the materials and life cycle costs are also assessed here. This proves that TOSHIBA units have a positive impact on investment, operating, and even disposal costs besides excellent efficiency values!
